pronunciation goodness

Today at Pilates there was another woman in the class named Anne. My instructor managed to pronounce each of our names differently, though, so I nearly always knew which of us she was talking to when she gave us instruction. I think it was that she was saying my name with a softer vowel, but even though I was there I'm not entirely sure how she got that effect.
