RIP J.D. Salinger
Jan. 28th, 2010 04:25 pmThough J.D. Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye was vastly more well known, and I did read it, my mother had Franny and Zooey on her bookshelf, so I read that also, and I just wanted to say that I found it much more touching and compelling than Catcher and I hope people still read it too.
As a teenager, I guess it was mostly the sense of connection to Franny as a person who found existence confusing and sometimes depressing, yet went on trying to understand. There's a family thing too. It's been a long time since I read it.
