Ann Arbor NAP (Natural Area Preservation) is having a photo contest! Here's their announcement:

It is time for the third annual NAP photo contest! The contest is open to amateur and professional photographers, adult and youth. PRIZES will be awarded, and winning photos will be printed in the Ann Arbor News and included in the NAP wall calendar for 2009. How cool is that?! Read on for the complete scoop.

Contest categories are: Nature Up Close, and Spirit of the Seasons. Applicants may submit up to five photos, which must be both hard copy and on a disk. There is an entrance fee of $10.00 for adult entrants only. Pictures must be taken in southeastern Michigan, preferably in the Ann Arbor parks. The deadline for submitting photos is September 5th and winners will be announced at NAP’s annual volunteer appreciation potluck on October 29th. (All entrants are welcome to attend the potluck, which is a fun costume party!)

To find out more about the contest, including how to enter, getting an entry form, and detailed photo specifications, go to http://www.a2gov.org/NAPphotocontest, email nap@a2gov.org, or call 734-996-3266.

An ARC of All the Windwracked Stars by Elizabeth Bear arrived this morning from Tor/Forge.

I shall have to tear into it once I finish reading Saturn's Children, by Charlie Stross and The Gospel of the Knife, by Will Shetterly.
