The other day I was showing some friends one of my favorite books and activities from when I was young - Designs for Coloring 3, by Ruth Heller. I colored in that book when I was sick, primarily, and remember very clearly how sad I was the day my favorite color ran out in my fine-tip marker set. It looks like it is no longer in print, but you can get many other books by her - both wonderful coloring books and some pretty neat-looking nonfiction children's books. (For the best comparison with the book I have, see Designs for Coloring: Snowflakes.)

This afternoon I created a wikipedia article on Ruth Heller, who died in 2004 at the age of 81.

I'm curious, are any of the rest of you familiar with her work? Did you have any favorite coloring or activity books when you were a kid?

I always did feel that was a compelling argument, about the bluebirds.
