Had a good meeting with Tammy yesterday and also spent most of the day working on ConFusion stuff, both for this year and next year. I am pleased to be able to report that Bruce Sterling has agreed to be our author guest of honor in 2004, and it looks like we will have invited our other three guests by sometime this week, hopefully. Don't know if they'll respond so quickly, of course, but we can hope.

Bill picked me up, happy with his juggling club experience, and we went home. After calling Jeff, we watched the second half of the Godfather (part 1). I have never watched the godfather movies before. As we watched this one, Bill occassionally pointed out places where the movie could have been shortenned. I agree, but I also found myself getting accustomed to the pacing and the feel of it. I'm glad I've seen it now, and looking forward to seeing the others.

I want just a few things in an answering machine. I want it to beep when it has new messages. I want it to blink a light or show a number to indicate it has old messages. I want it to tell me the time and date of each message. I want it to e easy to delete the message I want without accidentally deleting the next message. perhaps most importantly, I want the sound quality of all the messages left for us to be very high on playback, and optionally I would like to be able to record as many as fifteen seperate 5-minute messages.

When we went out shopping, we saw tons of answering machines with multiple mailboxes, caller ID, etc, but we couldn't seem to find any with these simple features. Does anyone know of one?

(we're looking at both plain answering machines and answering machine/cordless phone units. The ones where you can check the messages from the handheld part of the phone are especially cool.)
