netmouse: (Anne and Bill)

Anne and Bill on the AT near the PA/MD border

I just posted the pictures I took from visiting with Bill this week in a set on flickr.

On Tuesday I flew in to DC. Jenny picked me up and we drove to the Pine Grove Furnace state park, where we met Laces (Allison) and Bill at the General Store (The've been hiking together). This is a store that, during the summer, sells half gallons of ice cream for the Half-Gallon Challenge. But it was closed! (in the fall it's closed on weekdays) So we went on a quest to find them ice cream, and they undertook the challenge.

How did they do? )

I have been delighted to see much interesting discussion on my post on female friends in SF, which [livejournal.com profile] rikhei pointed out was blogged on the Feminist SF Blog. That seems to have lead to a page on female friendships in SF on the feminist sf wiki, which I didn't know existed. I encourage people to go and add or comment on works that have female friendships in them, whether they involve the main characters or not. Especially, if there are friendships listed that do not have the titles of the books or the author's name, please help complete the references so other people can look them up.

Wandering around the feminist sf wiki, I noticed there was a link on the main page to an empty article on Women in Fandom. I put some content in the article, mainly a list of women who I know have worked on or Chaired multiple conventions, run organizations, edited fanzines, etc. I glanced at a smofcon membership list and the list of former worldcon chairs and some smofs posts to remind me of peoples' names; please don't take offense if you're not on the list, I know it's not complete. Please do add people or click through to add information to individual pages/articles on the amazing women in our community, or correct people's names to their preferred format. (Most of the women on the list have no articles and need them created. As always, as a wiki editor, I offer to post information for people who shy away from the actual wiki editing process.)
