One of my favorite christmas albums is "Merry, From Lena" (Lena Horne).

I think Merry makes a rather pretty greeting (or farewell) all by itself.

But that's not what I came here to say.

I just wanted to express my hope that everyone is either well or getting well, and among loved ones, familial or adopted. This is a time for being warm, and together, and for lots of good food. :)

My sister is here and we had the family over for dinner last night (Duck breast with Orange sauce, cherry walnut stuffing, a light salad with cucumbers and avocado and manderin oranges (must remember mom uses the mandarin orange juice instead of vinegar, and then a bit of oil for a very light dressing), fresh bread by Bill (mango walnut honey bread), roasted potatoes, and a steamed vegetable meddly. Plus guacamole appetiser with chips - on request from Bill. Made the guacamole with lime juice again and was again pleased with the results. Breast of duck turns out to be very easy to cook. It turned out nicely and we're looking forward to leftovers.

It's also a time for cheerful music. Yesterday we enjoyed a holiday radio station from www.pandora.com based on the afore-mentioned Lena Horne album (just put in "Let it snow! let it snow! let it snow!" and pick the Lena Horne version for jazzy 40s holidays). I think my dad is really wishing he had internet at home... we should make sure they're set up with that soon, I think.

Anyway, Merry, Everyone!
