Got up this morning and shortly after that some guy in army fatigues came and rang our bell, asking if we wanted our sidewalk shoveled. I sniffled "no thanks, but thanks for asking" and then went up and dressed and put on my own army issue fatigue coat, 'cause it looked like such a good idea, and went out and shoveled the walk and driveway so Bill could get out to go to work. Really there was only 4 or 5 inches of snow on the ground.

I haven't worn the fatigue jacket for quite some time. It's nice 'cause it's long and has big pockets and a hood with a drawstring and the sleeves have little extensions that will fold out over your gloves to help keep the snow out. When I was in highschool I very gradually took ownership of it from my mom, who didn't wear it much. She got it while dad was in the air force. I once dyed the inside of one of the pockets pink from an out-of-control package of red pistachios while hanging out with my friends, going to movies. It's nice having clothes with history.

I rather like shoveling snow. But it's made for a bit of a late start on the day. Back to looking for work...
