small joys

The other day I celebrated the fact that the last batch of eggs I hard-boiled came out perfectly. Even days later the eggs peeled easily, and were a wonderful consistency.

What small joys have you celebrated lately?

That's always so awesome -- I've only managed it a few times. :)

My smallest joy lately has been turning on the radio and immediately hearing Groove is in the Heart. I used to love that song.

Neat! Yesterday I got in the car and turned on the radio and it was "Tom Sawyer" by Rush, one of my childhood faves.

And my small joy is poking at synchronicity. Last night, I was told that someone found me delightful, and for the first time in months, the lyrics to 'Groove is in the Heart' popped into my head.

Dee-Liteful truly Dee-Liteful (liteful)
Makin’ it doin’ it 'specially at show (show)
Feeling kinda high like a Hendrix haze (haze)

And I shared this song with that person. And we were humming it for a while. (Until bananaphone was played in response.)

And so the surprise of seeing this post in the morning - a small joy.

I managed to convert leftover chocolate fondue into fudge. It firmed up perfectly.

Accidentally running across a LJ community yesterday that was started by some folks that understood perfectly about a project.

Last night, I got to visit with my Grandpa all on my own without a dozen other people around. And, he was able to have the chocolate shake that I brought to him and it made him smile.

The library book I had been wanting for three whole weeks finally came in.

Nice!

The last few times I used the library I held onto the books too long and then lost them and had to pay fines... I have three books from the library at home right now, tentatively hoping to get them read and back on time.

A walk, and a shared bottle of Champagne, while serenaded by birdsong in the woods near home last night.

I'm making good progress on all of my knitting projects, and this brings me small bursts of joy on a regular basis.

I went for a walk this morning, and though I live near a service drive, it smelled *delicious* out. You could smell the dew on green things, and the sun on lilacs and apple blossoms. The breeze was soft and moist, rather than the dry, harsh winds of winter.

Ive been eating a lot of gas station food lately, and most of it is pretty bad, but a few days ago I got there at just the right time to have a perfectly roasted chkito(sp?)

(You know- a tortilla with cheese and beans and chives?)

A ton of things, really.

Springtime greenery, weather, and flower-scented air
I've started seeing someone new who is intriguing and kind
Dinner with friends at a great Asian place Sunday
Extremely great sex over the weekend

This morning I was trying to rebandage the infected badness and panicked because I couldn't twist into a position to be able to do anything with it. I called J and he came right over, took patient and gentle care of it, kissed me and sent me off to work. <3

Okay, that might be a larger joy. :) How about the exact angle of the tree branch outside my window and how the window frames it perfectly like a painting?

Oh, that does sound nice. The tree in my front yard has lovely white flowers all over it. Every year I am glad I wouldn't let Bill cut it down after a third of it broke off in a storm.

Mine has to be my bar of premium organic 70% cocoa dark chocolate with lemon flavor. Mmmmmm...... Smooooooooth. :)

Letting my cat lay on me while I read. I was neglecting the enjoyment that a pet can bring, and I've been enjoying all of the animals in this house a lot more. :)

How do you get a perfect hard boiled egg? The bachelor in me needs to know. :)

My small joy was making it all the way to California without mechanical trouble of any kind.

in this case I put the eggs in cold water in a pan with about an inch of water above them. Then I brought them to a boil, uncovered, and turned them down to a low boil for fifteen minutes, then rinsed them immediately in cold water then left them in cold water (accidentally for about 2 hours).

Being closer to work and taking the bus a few days of week to stave off gas price annoyance (not that I ever lived *too* far away, but now taking the bus is actually practical on a daily basis).
