I did ask LinkedIn what the procedure was for dealing with deceased accounts, as a good friend of mine died last year and her account is still there, but the amount of documentation they required was well beyond what I would be able to access.
I think it's fine for people to still have accounts, but I think they should be marked deceased and treated differently. People should not get suggestions that they chat with the deceased or send them an email, for instance.
