slow start to what looks to be a nice day

Because my abdomen is killing me and my bowels are uncertain about this whole, ah, functioning thing, I am taking it easy this morning instead of pushing to get to Wiscon in time for the afternoon class. Should be there in time for dinner.

almost packed.

Both my planes home last night were delayed by about half an hour each, but I got home, and there was good music on the radio in the car to bring me there. I have picked out music for the ride to Madison today, too.

I was listening to an NPR piece on the weekend about air traffic control. Apparently working conditions are really bad, and they're bringing on a lot of new hires who don't have as much training as previous air traffic controllers did. So while safety records are still excellent, what's being sacrificed is timeliness - it used to be that air traffic controllers took a lot of pride in getting out of delays and getting planes in on time. Now the experienced controllers are so overworked that they don't care anymore and are just doing what's safe. And the new controllers can't run planes as tightly because they're still learning.

It was a pretty interesting piece.
