I am now a member of the American Society of Naval Engineers. They sent me a certificate and everything; I just got it in the mail. ASNE was established in 1888. I'm feeling rather honorable and historic at this particular moment, I must say.

Congratulations. How does one join said society? How does one qualify?

On the list of the 100 things I find cool about you, that is definitely in the top 3.

I don't really know... we just bought memberships when we were going to their HSI conference anyway, so I'm not sure that there are any actual qualifications. However, I am in fact an engineer, and I am in fact working on a Navy contract, so that probably didn't hurt.

Not to be confused with navel engineers. I'm contemplating that one. No offshore drilling plans, though.

In other news, I have abandoned plans to torture metaphors by waterboard, since the rack is so much more effective.

My heavens, that sounds so... historic! And honorable! I do hope you have fitting plans for the certificate.

Cool, do you get to wear a uniform now?
