Last week we saw Adaptation. Have you seen it? What did you think?

I think I liked it, even if the only character I really liked got killed by an alligator near the end.

(That's not really a spoiler. There's alligator foreshadowing very near the beginning of the movie.)

I really liked it a lot, though not as much as I liked Being John Malkovich by the same duo. Adaptation has a lot more going on, and is much more obviously deconstructionist, but to me it shares a core sensibility with their prior movie.

I've only seen once so far. The person I saw it with had seen it twice already at the time, and has now purchased the DVD. She told me that it was one of her favorite movies of the year. I suspect it's one of those movies, like The Big Lebowski, that grows on you with each viewing. (These movies also seem to share the effect of evincing strong opinions from their viewers, either positive or negative, but rarely neutral.)
