Going to Chicago soon

Just in case anyone's keeping track, I *am* going to Windycon this weekend. I will be getting in sometime on Friday and immediately dashing around putting up fliers for the ConFusion party and possibly doing some shopping though I might just buy everything here since we're driving. (If there's anyone who will be there earlier Friday who is willing to print and post fliers for me, let me know, and I'll drop you a pdf.) The ConFusion party will start at 9 pm on Friday and at 8 or 9 on Saturday (any opinions on which is better?)

In general, for the weekend, I will be running program ops, so you can find me in the green room during the daytimes if not generally in programming space. Friday evening Pat and Allan are covering for me since there's no telling when I'll get in. Friday and Saturday nights there is the ConFusion party. I may or may not bring the guitar - we'll see how space goes in the car. Being as how it's a military theme this year, though, it's tempting to sit in the lobby playing pacifist hippie songs. I've not been practicing much lately, what with getting the house on the market so... we'll see.

Speaking of which, my house is now for sale. If you want a nice 4-bedroom house with attached garage backing on Eberwhite woods on the west side of Ann Arbor for $279,000, let me know.

4BR for 279K sounds like the most incredible dream! I was once told that reading real estate ads from places other than NYC and SF is like porn for people living in NYC and SF. I think it's true!

We tried to pick a price people should jump at... (and by we, I mean me and my agent). This house was probably worth 320K four years ago. I guess I'll just see what happens.

I'm afraid to look and see what a 4BR runs in NYC...

On the other hand, I live in a city where the real estate always seems to have been dirt cheap so I spoggle when I look at prices in other cities. But for some reason they seem determined to tax us out of them down here. :P

There is firewood stacked behind the shed. What with trees (or parts of trees) occasionally coming down, there is not generally a shortage of firewood here. I have been known to give it away.

Ahhh... that'd be "fireplace wood" then. A stack that you use for those romantic evenings... instead of to heat the house with. From my 80 acres of well mixed deciduous woods, I currently have between three and four cords cut, split and stacked and am cutting standing dead wood now for this year - I'll need between 3 and 7 cords, depending on the winter. Then in a couple of months I'll start cutting next year's wood - I hope to get 6 or 7 cords cut by spring and then I can tend the garden in the mornings, and afternoons just goof off when the ticks and skeeters come out. ;-D

8 PM gives people back early from supper something to do but I think of 9 PM as the traditional starting time and it gives the party hosts time to get a decent dinner.
