Courage in Women is often mistaken for Insanity

So when I look at Palin and I see an insane woman I should really be thinking "Wow, she's really courageous."?

While it does take a certain type of courage to be that thick-headed and yet go out into the public eye and try to get away with it anyway on a national scale, that is not the intended take away from this post.

The title is a quote from a doctor (as depicted in a documentary; I don't know if it's an historical quote) after politicians try to get a suffragette put away for insanity for her attempts to get women the vote, and the doctor refuses. Well into the ... I want to say 60s or 70s women were being committed by people who had power over them (mostly men) for resisting the role that was being imposed upon them, and speaking out against it.

(Have you ever read Marge Percy's Woman on the Edge of Time? Good book.)

And in fact "excess courage" in men as well as women sometimes *is* insane, and sometimes exacts a high cost from people in near-by foxholes.
