My latest Talk Hard! post is about Date Rape Drugs, and the general question of making sure you and your date are sober enough to consent when you start having sex.

Very well written Anne. Comparing being too drunk to drive with also being too drunk to consent makes for an interesting perspective. With Penguicon coming up next week there will be a lot of people who fall into that category. While they know better then to get in their car and drive someplace that won't stop them from hooking up at 3am after a few too many jello shots. Those things do tend to happen at cons but technically neither person is in any shape to consent. That is however acceptable to a point but having one person sober and the other hammered is not.

One point that I am not sure you need to make or anything, but has always irked the shit out of me:
The "date-rape drug" moniker.
Latest is Ecstasy.
Before: GHB.
Before: Roofies
Previously: Beer, wine, mead, love.
I hate this devolution of nomenclature.
Is money the "date-rape drug" of politics?
Is there a line between "beer-goggles" and "nailing the passed out girl at the frat party"? How about if the walls are just a little softened?

Sadly, I can’t promise this will protect you, since many people are raped by friends and relatives they did trust, but I’m not trying to make you paranoid, I’m trying to get you to be careful.

I think you need a better way of saying or dealing with this. The way it's put and where you say it makes it seem like people should be paranoid regardless of your disclaimer.

oh dear, yes. I just changed it to another variant of the song anyway, which has "hammers" instead.
