The pink slip party seemed like a bit of a scam. When I first got there, the fellow running it was talking about a couple employers who were coming later. Later on when people arrived, he reffered to a couple of employers who had been there early and then left. I think this is mainly a way for Arbor Brewing company to bring people in to a little-used room on Tuesdays and charge them for drinks. The apetisers were pretty good, though, and it was fairly interesting talking to other people looking for jobs.

Also, I ran into an old highschool friend, Victor Lams. He's looking for work as well, having lost his job in the Worldcom disintegration. It was fun talking to him and we exchanged resumes.

afterwards I grabbed a real dinner at Hong Cong Inn, next to the Dawn Treader, and walked over to Juggling. Since it was so cold and windy I stopped into Borders and Shaman Drum Books on the way. I saw a book that looks interesting -
Lucy, a novel by Ellen Feldman - a look at the love affair of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Lucy Mercer Rutherford. It seems like maybe it's a bit too heavily fiction, but it seems interesting to contemplate the epic infidelity of the man who lead us during World War II, and how Lucy might have actually given Franklin the very support he needed at that dificult time.

Juggling was fun but tiring. Quite a turnout. Tried returning Josh's clubs to him, but he seems happy having us borrow them longer, so we are.

Seems like it. Although you'd think that they'd be better off scamming people with jobs.

That's why I'm inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt - perhaps they had employers who were supposed to come, but flaked?
