2) If you're a LiveJournal user, LJ has quietly decided for you that by default you don't get to see Adult or "offensive" content in your LJ search results. If you don't want them filtering that stuff, go change your viewing options here.

There's a search box available to search for a variety of data elements within LJ. On my format, it's in the upper right hand corner of this page, directly below the LJ function bar. Where you see it will depend on the format you're using.
