The Big News story

I just have to say, my observation of mentions in peoples' blogs supports the substance of scalzi's (slightly fictionalized) conversation with a friend from California about what is the big news story right now.

Clearly, the California fires are the big story at the moment, but the mainstream media is totally missing the important part.

What does Britney think? How is this affecting her life? Are her kids dogs scared? These are important questions, dammit!
