Yes, we have Author GoHs!

I am pleased to report that Justine Larbalestier and Scott Westerfeld have agreed to be ConFusion Guests of Honor in 2008.

Our guest list is now complete. The rest of the bunch consists of Carl Lundgren (Artist GoH), Throwing Toasters (Music GoH), Kevin M. Dunn (Science GoH), John Scalzi (Toastmaster), and The Pirates (Fan Guests).

Scott and Justine are both fabulous authors and Justine is also a feminist scholar, which is something I'm quite keen about. I'm so excited I've landed myself on a con committee again as Scott and Justine's Liaison.

In other news, the Fourth Street Fantasy Convention is returning to Minneapolis next June 20-22. I'm hoping to attend that as well. So the cons I'm currently planning to go to are (maybe Conclave, maybe WFC,) Smofcon in Boston in December, ConFusion in January, (maybe Penguicon,) 4th Street Fantasy, Apollocon, and Denvention 3 (the Worldcon).

What cons are you planning to attend?

I seem to have become a regular at Penguicon. I volunteered to help them with the gaming programming this coming year.

I've decided I'm going to Confusion this year too. How would I volunteer to help out?

I'm grateful to the folks behind Fourth Street Fantasy for planning such a spiffy birthday weekend for me!

If you think that I'm going to have any money for cons, right away, after Worldcon and another week in Japan, you are miserably mistaken. Notwithstanding the preceding moan, there are stirrings toward the World Fantasy Convention, I hope to make SMOFcon, and Con*cept is in the works. Also, I rarely miss Arisia, which is a major reason for my so often missing Confusion. Alas, alack, and welladay, they are concurrent again, this year.

ConClave, U-Con, maybe Youmacon, Fusion of course, Penguicon.

I'd like to do a bigger con but which one?

Well, I just finished Polaris 21 this past weekend. Coming up over the next year or so: Dragon*Con (Labour Day), Gaylaxicon (October 5-8, Atlanta), Con*Cept (October 12-14, Montreal), Ad Astra (March 28-30, 2008), Polaris 22 (July 11-13, 2008), and Denvention 3.

And I suspect that if I missed Gaylaxicon in 2008 (October 10-13 in Washington DC) and 2009 (no dates set yet, in Minneapolis), I'd be subjected to something painful. Possibly [livejournal.com profile] esprix singing show tunes.
