MMmmm, Chicken

I bought a whole roasted chicken and ate some of it for my dinner tonight (with green beans and cucumber as sides). I simply adore roasted chicken. One of my favorite things about having a roast to myself is that I get both oysters. When I was a kid we had to share those, as in my family they are considered the choicest part of the bird.

Oyster?

This is the first time I've heard that chickens had oysters. Um...what are they?

There's also them as thinks the pope's nose is the best part. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope%27s_nose

Not I, you understand, but it bears mention.

I'm weird. I like the skin (I know, it's bad, but there it is) and liver a lot. But otherwise the breast meat tends to be my favorite.

I like the pope's nose, the gizzard, and the heart. And the skin. Drumsticks are the most fun to eat. But I usually buy boneless skinless breasts. (Never heard of nor tried the oysters -- I suppose it makes sense though -- I'd heard of prairie oysters, but never those on a chicken.)

So...chickens have oysters. Who knew?

Next you'll be telling me clams have legs.

What can I say? I like breasts. ;)

Funny I grew up in total ignorance of the oysters.

I think I ate them by default being the family scrounger when it came to food but I never found them extra tasty.
