Woman wins Turing Award

In June retired IBM researcher Frances Allen will become the first woman ever to receive the Turing award, described by some as the Nobel Prize of computer science. (read more about the award and Allen's career)

Like the writer, I'm torn between being pleased that it finally happened, and wondering what took so long.

Uh huh. It would be nice to know what the award was for. Frickin' article doesn't say—doesn't even mention it in passing.

That said, yeah, computer science is a sausage festival.
