Andhr1a pointed out the other day that my old friend Bryan Alexander has a blog called Infocult: Information, Culture, Policy, Education.

Once upon a time, Bryan managed the Dawn Treader Book Shop, a favorite used book store here in Ann Arbor (where I used to work). He lived in Entity House and was the center of a whirl of interesting discussion wherever he went. You can get a taste of that last on his blog, which I have been reading regularly since it was pointed out to me.

I'm wondering if maybe you have the link wrong? It goes to open a PDF file...

I think this is the correct link - http://infocult.typepad.com/infocult/

I didn't know you knew Bryan as well! :) I knew him back from his Entity
House days, and Dawn Treader... ah, fond memories. Anyways, I'd love to see his blog. :)

Very kind of you to find Infocult. Please don't hesitate to fire off comments.

You know, you could set up an LJ feed for Infocult...

*wave* Hiya! It's good to see you here, and on infocult. I haven't really had a chance to check it out, but it's now on my google home feed page, so I'll be getting to know it...

*hugs*

An Infocult feed: do you mean a LJ page displaying Infocult RSS?

(hiya, shadowriderhope!)

Oh, cool! Thanks!

What a small world! How did you know Bryan?

[identity profile] shadowriderhope.livejournal.com 2007-02-22 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm curious, too. :)

I can't tell about these things. It's a standing joke that I can't go anywhere without meeting people who (claim to) know me - any city, airport, country, Second Life. It's bizarre. Like the band of Bulgarian readers at Infocult.

But I am at home today, with cats, dog, goats, and chickens. The children will want this computer. So I shall bake more bread.

As I mentioned above, I used to work at the Dawn Treader - I started while he worked there (I mostly just shelved books for credit at that point, which I started doing because I'm a compulsive organizer and I *couldn't* put books back on the floor after I picked them up from the "to be stocked" pile). I was in high school. Around about then of my best friends dated him, also, so I got to stand around while they muttered endearments in Russian...

She's in DC now and I get to see her in two weeks! I'm really glad to be in touch with these people still and again.

Bryan's wedding in island park was one of the coolest I've ever been to. Watching Bryan bounce on his toes watching intently for the arrival of his bride was just the sweetest thing!

The MIB with swords guarding the bridge were cool too.

I won't ever actually have a library like his, but I do in my dreams.

Doh! I didn't process the "worked there" bit. I used to work for Dawn Treader, too, doing the same thing for a bit of cash to help me squeak by. And I was at his wedding, too.
