The College for Creative Studies; Free Classes for Youth

Here's something I didn't know about: Detroit has a College for Creative Studies.

Someone passed an announcement through the AWC that they are offering free workshop courses in drawing, sculpture, painting and design to students in grades 6-9 in their Detroit Neighborhood Arts Workshops (for more information, contact Larry Lunsford, Director, Don Bocso Hall, 313/ 267.0043 x210 - do it soon, classes started on the 20th).

They also encourage people to register for the Scholastic Art and Writing awards for students in grades 7-12. Those are actually given out by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers.

I think it has a pretty good rep amoung artists and car designers. The other place downtown for artists is the Scarab Club, Yan showed some paintings there, and Sharon took a class there.
