I'm definitely going to the World Fantasy Convention, in Austin, the first weekend in November. And I may yet decide to stop in at ConClave, here in Michigan in October, or go to Smofcon in December. In mid-October, I'm off to San Francisco from October 15 to 22, to attend Augmented Cognition International, go to the HUman Factors and Ergonomics Society annual meeting, and visit with Tim and Meryl (yay!).

For now, however, I am going to the nation's capital, for to see my sweetie. Be back thurs.

If you are in the SE Michigan area, you should note that there will be a Stilyagi party at Chuck and Matt's on Saturday, Sept 23. I plan to be there as well. Please consider joining us.

Hey -- I'm going to be at WFC this year, and I found this entry because I noticed you friended me recently and was reading to see who you were. Have we met, or are we just friends with a bunch of the same people? Because it looks like we really are friends with a bunch of the same people, and you look familiar, but I couldn't say from where. Minicon, some other con, something else completely?

Hey -- It will be good to see you at WFC -- I'll probably meet you the week before, because I'm planning to be at Mike's memorial in Minneapolis; skzbrust asked me to be there for him to lean on. He mentioned you to me this week and pointed me to your lj. He expected us to have met at Minicon at some point, and we may have, but I don't remember. I went to Minicon regularly for a few years in the late 90s and ran the Publications dept. one year under Geri Sullivan, though I've never lived in town. I was also in Minneapolis last year for one weekend of the RenFaire, and not at the last Minicon, but the one before that.

Here in Michigan I go to/help run ConFusion and Penguicon so those are the other most likely cons to see me at, though last year I also went to Wiscon and I've been known to show up at Worldcons and other places. This will be my first WFC.

I didn't start going to Minicons until we moved home at last, which was in fall of '03. Before that the three of us were in California and only doing occasional cons, and before that we were college students who were daunted by the very prospect of a con. So it's possible we met in '05, but if you don't remember it and I don't remember it, I'm guessing not.

Anyway, I will see you at the end of the month, then, and immediately thereafter in happier circumstances. And do let me know if you need to be picked up from the airport or whatever else.
