netmouse | back pain and upcoming Performance(s)

so, I was already feeling tense and stressed and in pain all the time, and then Saturday while rehearsing for Buffy (and insufficiently warmed up) I pulled or pinched something in my back (left shoulder behind the shoulder blade) so that it hurt horribly. Chuck did a marvelous job working it back to a state of near-relaxation, both at the end of rehearsal and after we went out to see Thank You For Smoking (which was fun). I've been putting a hot compress on it and taking ibuprofen and it seems to be settling down. Both leaning backward and forward hurt, especailly if I turn my head, especially to the left. A trip to the chiropractor tomorrow, I think.

Now it's the run up to Penguicon. Buffy is at 11 pm on Friday. We *think* we have a complete cast, except for a horned demon for the openning scene. This is a *very* easy role. If you're interested, please let me know.

Exciting news of this past week is I was selected to join the cast of the Monkey Rampant Sketch Compedy troupe and I was in fact supposed to perform this wednesday (in one sketch out of about 20). I may still. We'll have to see how my back feels.

Had a nice Easter. Mom and dad came over for brunch with me and Laura and Catherine, and then Mom and dad and I went up to Grandma's for dinner and a nice visit and much viewing of photos from mom and dad's Hawaii/Arizona vacation of a month past. I had lots of sugar, which I've been off for lent, and I now feel pretty woozy, so I'm going off it again...

Also had a nice phone conversation with my mother-in-law, whose birthday it is today. maybe another phone conversation or two to go, and then to bed.

I expect to be in town by around 4-5pm on Friday. Making an 8pm rehearsal should be doable.

Unfortunately, I don't have horns.

What type of clothing should I plan on/pack for this? (Since I can't just run -home for more.)

Oooh! Oooh! A buddy of mine ("Ferrett" Steinmetz, the writer of Home on the Strange and prolific blogger) is going to be a guest a Penguin-Con this year. Please be kind to him; he's really nervous.

However, if you ask nicely, he'd probably be DELIGHTED to be a horned demon for you!

oo, there's another thought. That reminds me, I need to invite all the nifty guests to dinner thursday. which means I need to poke Aaron about sending out a note about where it is, I believe...

Did anyone ask Davros?

He used to have his own costume and everything.

Davros is playing Sweet, the main Demon/Bad guy of the episode (who rented his costume before. if you would like to contribute funds to the renting of the sotume this year, please let him know...)

The Horned Demon is a minor character, with larger horns, who only appears in the first scene.

Sorry its been awhile since I saw the episode.

Congrats again on the Monkey Rampant gig - sounds wonderful! I hope your neck heals soon, too.

I'll try to come to this Wednesday's show, though I probably won't get there til 9:30 or so - do you think they'll still be going then?
