Democratic candidates have been invited to sit on the panel to answer
questions written in advance by DFA and additional questions gathered from
the audience.

Confirmed panelists include: State Senator Liz Brater; challengers for the
7th US Congressional District: Daryl Campbell, Chuck Ream and Fred Strack;
candidate for the 17th State Senate seat, Bob Schockman; candidates for the
53rd House seat: Leigh Greden and Rebekah Warren; and Terry Spryszak,
Congressman Dingell's District Director (17th US Congressional District).

Good to see we have a veteran running! I liked Fred, sounds pretty damn good. Got good applause with asking for an up or down vote on John Dingell's national health insurance bill. Didn't see Bob Schockman, think he passed up an opportunity.

Just had an opportunity the other night to hear Fred Strack speak. Are you kidding me? This guy has lived anywhere but in Michigan and has about the passion of a bowl of stale corn puffs. He was speaking at the same place as Daryl Campbell (hope I spelled the name right). Both are armed services veterans, but it was clear that Mr. Campbell both knew and cared about the district in addition to having real passion for taking aim at the poor policies of the Bush Administration. It was very apparent that Mr. Campbell was the better candidate.

Leigh Greden

I thought Leigh Greden was very impressive. He seems like he would be an awesome rep for Ann Arbor. He's great on the issues and he's EXPERIENCED in local city government. He's also a lawyer and that's a huge plus for a state legislator. I'm definitely leaning towards supporting him this August!

I thought Leigh Greden's performance was weak. This is a guy who wants to write a check instead of rolling up his sleeves (his answer on MCRI, the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative) and whose "experience" consists mainly of pandering to devlopers and SCREWING STUDENTS at every opportunity (his positions on the couch ban, parking, etc.). Ann Arbor deserves better.

While this forum really showed that there are some good candidates being offered for 2006, it is clear that Sharon Renier, the last Democratic nominee has the poise, skills, and command of the issues to truly give Democrats their stongest voice in this District. She was by far the best candidate and will have a great opportunity to take this seat and give the Bush Administration the opposition it deserves. She has most definitely garnered my vote!
