going to the gym

So this morning my calves hurt. And I complained to Bill (and he was nice and rubbed them for me) and it was a total mystery why they were aching until it finally occurred to me that I went to the gym with [livejournal.com profile] brendand on Thursday and I'm usually sore the day after next, so this was gym soreness.

It's bad that it's been so long since I've been to the gym that I had forgotten what that soreness feels like. I think the last time I went, other than to swim, was before I injured my shoulder last february.

Bill and I have kind of been anticipating joining the new YMCA when it opens, but in the meantime I'm realizing a lot of the people I know are members at the washtenaw county rec center. So if you are, and you'd like to go to the gym with me, please let me know. I'm now in a sedentary job and am backsliding on being in shape and losing weight, so I really need to get out there and sweat. And now that I've made going to the gym with me sound really attractive, I'm going to go for a walk in the sun...

I'm swimming laps about 30 - 35 minutes, 4 times a week or so. Feel free to see if we can do that together sometime - I'd love to add days in to my schedule!

I'm lifting 3 X /week, too, and walking 30 minutes 3 X/week, but I often lift somewhere else, and walk outside when I can (or skip it if the pain is really bad). Let me know what sounds good.
