stress

It's 8 am on a Saturday morning. I work today from 10 to 5 and I've been up since 7. I have a meeting at 9. Already I'm stressing about what I have and haven't gotten done today, and how many hundreds of other things I have to do that I won't fit into today.

I think I need a lifestyle change.

Hey, sweetie... why don't *you* go to Clarion? Aren't you like, a Hugo-nominated author, or something?(;

nope... Cheryl didn't run any of my writing in the fanzine until this year. The nomination and win was for last year's work. I have a hugo-winning fanzine I can brag about proofreading though.

I think at heart I'm more of a proofreader/editor than a writer. I mean, I write well, in a documentation/lecture style, or inter-personal diplomacy, or in little vinettes or poems, but I've never been a plot person. It might be interesting for me to collaborate with someone who can do plot and knows more about the tropes of literature than I do.

But really, it's kind of like programming - a tool I can use that I don't much like to sit down for hours and just do. I don't have the heart for it. I don't love it, as my career coach would say. Then again, there are plenty of successful authors who complain about how writing is painful...
