Since that last post worked so well..

What would people recommend for Mexican around here?

I kow about the burrito place down on South U (Pancheros) and Sabor Latino. Has anyone tried their taqueria on State street?

The taqueria on State St. closed in March, sadly. The service was pretty bad, anyway, though the food was ok.

If you're willing to go to Ypsilanti, La Fiesta is good and authentic. They're on Washtenaw near the water tower. (They're on the westbound side after it splits, so you have to go past the tower, turn left in one of the neighborhood streets, and cut through to the westbound side.)

Other than that, there isn't really much in the way of good Mexican in AA that I've been able to find.

Ditto on the La Fiesta. Muy bien!

Sabor Latino on Main is decent, but limited.

La Fiesta Mexicana is good.

So is Taqueria Jalisco, which is two doors down from La Fiesta. The surprising thing about them is that, on weekends, you can get handmade corn tortillas, made fresh (a woman comes in to make their gorditas right out there in the restaurant and she'll do tortillas if you ask). If you've never had them, it's worlds apart from any tortilla you've ever eaten. Call first to make sure she'll be there, though.

Basically, though, we aren't a mecca for Mexican food. For that, you'd want something like El Comal in Mexicantown.
