As far as I can see the last journal entry successfully posted from me was friday. I guess that explains why no one responded to my entry this week. It was just a little chirruppy thing talking about more progress cleaning the house and how Bill cleaned my tub, and a bit about helping Bill learn to unicycle.

Livejournal has been annoying this week about not keeping me logged in. I go to post a comment and it complains that I didn't put my username in there, something I never had to do before because I was always logged in. Not sure what changed. I have set my options to never log out a dozen times.

yesterday I woke up very early and very depressed. I don't really like my job. It's not awful, I guess, but it's a waste of my time and I just tolerate it all day. Last night while I was walking around with Bill as he tried not to fall off the unicycle (using my shoulder or hand for balance) he complimented me on my patience, and I thought, this is my major skill at work. I patiently wait out the day.

silly me. I couldn't see Tuesday's post because I wasn't logged in... I had made it a friends only post because I though chatter about details of cleanng the house were a bit personal and possibly embarrasing. Oh well.

I look forward to when livejournal stops randomly logging me out.

Yeah, it logs me out like that too, despite my incessantly telling it to leave me logged in forever. I haven't explored it (and I'm not in a position to do it right now) but I think it may be due to the cookie lifetime, so it may be easy to fix by hacking the cookie cache.

I'm sorry to hear you feel that way about your work. While that level of patience is an important life skill, that isn't the best way to develop it. Work life is such a big part of your daily existence. It should be something that keeps you engaged, not just a way to mark time. (Even the best jobs have more than enough of that in them, from what I've seen.)

nod. Rhonda was looking for a long-term commitment, but Bill and I really (really) need for me to get a job that pays better and has at least health benefits. I am looking and open to suggestions. I need to update my portfolio (http://www.netmouse.com/me/portfolio/) area and have recently reworked a couple of my resumes.

I am looking in the following areas:

Public relations, public policy

computer help, documentation, testing & QA

interface design, user testing, business analysis, systems analysis and design

research and design in general

editing and proof reading

web design, teaching, consultancy

event planning, project management, administration

It seems like a lot of the computer jobs I do see posted are short-term contracts, and that's not what I'm looking for.

I've been having the "you're logged out yet not" problem lately as well. I hope they're working on it.

Hang in there. I can certainly empathize, having had lots of jobs I merely tolerated. Some days my current job is one! But not that often, fortunately.

Look into instructional design positions as well. They *always* need instructional designers who can write, edit, and produce webpages. It might combine some of your teaching desires as well...

Just a thought (and another search term) if you are looking for work.
