Re: Ann Arbor--All unique places change because of their very uniqueness. Hip is so evanescent. My hometown, Asheville NC, is unrecognizable to me now. The hip vibe which drew thousands of countercultural wannabees seems to have prompted them to commodify the lifestyle. Now the authentic homegrown counterculture can't afford to live there. Fortunately, it's still beautiful.

Yellow Springs, even, is not at all as I remember it from ten years ago. Fortunately, though, Dayton is improving.
