Breaking News

I've just been informed, I am now a Yahoo Groups Power User.

I feel so... powerful. :P

Saw the Dark Knight last night and agree with the Ferrett that while it is probably not the best movie of all time, it was pretty darn good. Full of awesomesauce, as some would say.

I found myself mourning Heath Ledger during the movie, which I don't know if everyone experienced, but it added a sad tinge to things for me. I have long had an especial soft spot for his Role in 10 Things I Hate About You, and not merely from this particular performance:

We are worse off for missing all the other projects he might have done.

I got that Yahoo e-mail too. WE CAN ROOL THE WORLD!

I found myself wondering if he got himself so far into the character that it helped lead to his demise. That would indeed be unfortunate.

Is that because you're in so many yahoo groups?

Actually, it is because I am the owner/moderator of so many Yahoo user groups.

It was great seeing the movie with ya last night! It's nice to spend some time with you and B, and we should do more of that!

I tremble before your User Power.

I had a similar experience of mourning Heath Ledger when I watched 10 Things I Hate About You shortly after his death.

It was one of those, "I should rent more Heath movies..." and then realizing that...I've seen them all, and that there wouldn't be anymore.

I'm hoping to see The Dark Knight this weekend, that should be good.

I really loved 10 Things, and he was definitely one of the reasons. I was expecting so much less.

The Mysteriacs had been really eyeing him for the role of Aitrus in the Myst movie. He would have been fantastic.

the rest of the cast is being very adamant that that wasn't the case.

[identity profile] jennkitty.livejournal.com 2008-07-22 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it would be bad press if it was the case, but if it's absolutely not, that's a very good thing.

still very sad, though.

Whilst pondering the Dark Knight movie, it occurred to me that Ledger was channeling Loki - not the Loki who is sometimes portrayed as a lovable trickster, but the Loki who is filled with pot-stirring malevolence.

I think I was first surprised by Heath Ledger's work in A Knight's Tale. It was after that I was pleasantly surprised by 10 Things. Can't wait to see Dark Knight. Such a loss for us all.

(note to self: need serious, reflective looking icon.)

Didn't talk all the way home from the movie. Too sad. I'm sure his death was nothing more than an accident. He worked hard and he picked some iffy ways to deal with the stress and sleeplessness.

I will always treasure his work.

I just got back from seeing Dark Knight. It was every bit as good as people have been raving about. As for Heath Ledger goes I have never been a big fan of his movies. However he rocked in his role as the Joker. Its sad that he died so young. This movie will easily go down as his Magnum opus.

I know you don't watch a lot of TV (if any) and you may not have seen, but there's a Domino's Pizza Commercial where a girl delivers a pizza to the Joker's cronies, and says something like 'And will you tell the Joker he owes me a car?' because she had to drive through a war zone to deliver it. I don't know if it's just me, but I think it's in poor taste (at best).

I guessed exactly which scene that would be before I clicked through my flash-block to watch it.

I definitely mourned him during the film, but that scene just made me teary eyed... the Joker doesn't really bring tears to my eyes, but that is the only super-huge romantic scene in any film (really, ever) that I can appreciate and enjoy. Usually they just make me irritated and upset.
