I liked The One, too, though I didn't think it measured up to The Matrix, which is what it was obviously trying to imitate. In fact, I'd planned to use the two films in a dialectic to flesh out ideas of identity, but that plan is indefinitely on hold....

I like Jet Li, but he seems to star in movies that I just have no impulse to see. (The first film I saw him in was Lethal Weapon 4, which is a movie I never would have elected for myself. But he was great in that. His character was truly fear-inspiring.)
