Passing on word: New Borders Grand Opening

Per [livejournal.com profile] beckybmw, next weekend (Feb 22-24) is the grand opening of a new Borders store out Ann Arbor-Saline Road Where CompUSA used to be.

Looks like there's a good drawing you can enter, and many interesting performers and events.

I was getting all excited about it, and then I saw in the AA News article that they've cut back on the number of different books they stock "to make better use of space" (facing more books out). Since I'm almost never looking for the bestsellers, I suspect I'll hate that.

More books good.

I wonder if I can get a dimensional add-on to the new place already? I better go see Gilda and explain I need one more than Gay Deciever does.

:)

You should check it out, though, and even let me know what you think. The assortment that was reduced were books that don't sell at all (things that sit on the shelf for a year or more without anyone buying them), so even if you're not a bestseller-fan, you may not even notice it.

I certainly will. Can't help myself. ;-)

BTW, I mostly buy science fiction at Borders, and I've seen the SF collection get thinner as the years have gone by. Store 1 seems better than the Arborland one, but B&N seems to have more depth in that section now. (I understand this is probably forced by market pressure from Amazon, I'm just commenting.)

YAY! A Borders closer to my house (though still a good drive).

Though, to be honest it's probably best that I have to order online or drive to a store...otherwise I'd never have money. ;)

BTW, it's open now. Grand Opening doesn't happen until next week. Beat the crowds.
