Steve told the kids that Thanksgiving Eve is when the Pilgrims hung turkeys by the fire in hopes that Indians would come and fill them up with cranberries, mashed potatoes and stuffing. He then sang a few lines of "Turkey time" (to the tune of Jingle Bells). On Thanksgiving night, the kids would go around the community knocking on doors, hollering, "Turkey Treat!" and they would be given various leftovers.
