Passing this on though I don't have time to look at it right now

[livejournal.com profile] kickaha posted a link to Randy Pausch's last lecture, “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams" Sept 18, 2007.
Word is it's about 2 hours long. If you can take the time, go watch it. Even if you can't take the time. This guy is a hero. I'm saddened that we're going to lose him, but he's certainly made the world a better place.

Randy is one of the best speakers I've ever heard. He's a CMU professor who brought students together into multidisciplinary entertainment technology courses to create some of the most amazing student work in virtual reality world construction and storytelling -- and he directed the Alice software project, making it easy for other students to do the same.

And he's only got a few months to live. Pancreatic cancer. Damn.

ETA: in comments, [livejournal.com profile] lauriemann points to a newspaper article about the talk that you can read in addition or if you don't have time to watch it. Thanks, Laurie!
