novapsyche, Opera star Luciano Pavarotti dies at 71.
Pavarotti was a household name when I was a kid, and I remember watching my mother get tears in her eyes listening to one of his performances. Though he was not as beloved in our household as violinist Itzhak Perlman (who is thankfully still with us), both of their "voices" are immediately recognizable to my ear.
