Broccoli/Pea Fusion (a Salad)

Yesterday my mom came over for dinner. Inspired by the pea salad that was served at the Stilyagi Picnic (plus a desire to use leftover broccoli florets from same picnic), I mixed up a salad from these ingredients (amounts all approximate):

2 cups Broccoli, cut up fairly small
1/3 cup Cheese - a nice strong crumbly yellow cheese from the Produce Station (I don't know what it's called, sorry), cut into v. small pieces
1/2 cup roasted salted soy nuts
1/2 cup peas (I started with frozen, which I defrosted in water in the microwave)
a couple spoonfuls of mayonnaise, to taste

Mom thought there was bacon in it, since the soy nuts are salty and crunchy and sort of give that impression. So this may be a good recipe for vegetarians who are mixing with meat lovers. Note however that the soy nuts will lose their crunchiness when stored overnight in dressing, so this is definitely a salad best eaten immediately.

The pea salad at the picnic was *fantastic*. One day I'll have to make a version of it at your house, under your direction. (Either that or learn how to make it vicariously by watching you.)

Good stuff, food.

see, I don't know who brought the pea salad to the picnic. I've had it before though, maybe at a SEMGS event? I'll hunt them down and get the recipe. Onion and peas and honey roasted peanuts and I'll have to find out what else...
