Guitar

Katherine Becker came over last night to practice guitar and we had a nice visit. When she left I left the guitar and my soft nylon pick in the den with the cat and went to bed. When I came in in the morning the cat had bitten a hole in the pick. I really wouldn't have predicted that...

Anyway, I was posting because we're still pretty much beginners and I was wondering if folks who've also studied guitar had any recommendations for songs we should try learning. If you can point us to chordings that would be helpful too. I also ought to dig out Rise up Singing and see if I can figure out some of those songs...

Speaking of, I also found the garbage can on its side at midnight-ish. And some salmon on the floor...

yeah. the cat didn't get any wet food this morning for that reason. I didn't mean to leave the garbage can full last night, but we may also need to get a new garbage can for the kitchen - one that's less tipable and that closes.

One that doesn't tip would be good. But closes would be annoying, and it's not going to keep the cat from wanting to get into the trash can. She'd still be able to smell it.

One thing you might consider is keeping it in a cupboard, or installing a compactor... they fit into a half-size cupboard, generally. My parents have one, and it's great.

nod. would still need to get a new trash can to keep it in the cupboard. Or could switch to what my parents use - paper bag with plastic bag in it, under the sink. Then we'd have to gather recycleables someplace else or store cleaning stuff elsewhere. I'll have to find out more about a compactor.

Songs - find some easy Beatles. Yes, I know it's cheesy, but you get a good payoff because people will recognize what you're playing.

You're still in A2 right? I think you can pick up a real book/fake book there and a guitar chord dictionary and go nuts.

I guess it also comes down to your goals playing... classical? melodic? chord strumming? heavy metal? (haha)
